ASG MAINTAINED RATES OF INCOME DISTRIBUTION

KUALA LUMPUR - Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB), has maintained the rates of income distribution for all the three funds under Amanah Saham Gemilang (ASG), ASG-Pendidikan, ASG-Kesihatan and ASG-Persaraan for the financial year ended March 31, 2010.

Unit holders of ASG-Pendidikan will receive an income distribution of 5.50 sen per unit, ASG-Kesihatan will receive 6.00 sen per unit, and ASG-Persaraan will receive 5.00 sen per unit.

Based on the Net Asset Value (NAV) of ASG-Pendidikan, ASG-Kesihatan and ASG-Persaraan of RM1.0010, RM1.0411 and RM1.0373 per unit respectively on 23 March, 2010, and their NAV of RM0.7552, RM0.7664 and RM0.8059 per unit on 31 March 2009, the total returns from the three ASG funds are 32.55%, 35.84% and 28.72% respectively.

Based on the NAV of the three funds on 23 March, 2010, the income distributions will translate to a yield of 5.81%, 6.12% and 5.05% respectively for ASG-Pendidikan, ASG-Kesihatan and ASG-Persaraan.

ASNB had allocated a total payment of RM2.31 million for ASG-Pendidikan income distribution this year which will benefit a total of 6,789 unit holders who had subscribed to 42 million units of the fund.

Up until 23 March, 2010, ASG-Pendidikan has registered a gross income of RM3.28 million. Profit from the sale of shares contributed RM1.99 million or 60.7 % to the total gross income while dividend income contributed RM0.94 million or 28.7%. The rest of the income at RM0.35 million or 10.6% is derived from investments in short term instruments.

For ASG-Kesihatan, ASNB has allocated a total payment of RM2.18 million for income distribution this year which will benefit a total of 4,491 unitholders who had subscribed to 36.4 miilion units of the fund.

Up to 23 March, 2010, ASG-Kesihatan has registered a gross income of RM2.63 million. Profit from the sale of shares contributed RM1.52 million or 57.8% to the total gross income while dividend income contributed RM0.87 million or 33.1%. The rest of the income at RM0.24 million or 9.1% is derived from investments in short term instruments.

For ASG-Persaraan, ASNB had allocated a total of RM1.07 million for income distribution this year which will benefit a total of 2,765 unit holders who have subscribed to 21.4 million units of the fund.

Up to until 23 March, 2010, ASG-Persaraan had registered a gross income of RM1.78 million. Profit from the sale of shares contributed RM1.08 million or 60.7% to the total gross income while dividend income contributed RM0.44 million or 24.7%. The rest of the income at RM0.26 million or 14.6% is derived from investments in short term instruments.

All the three unit trust funds under ASG are ‘Growth and Income Fund’ with different objectives and asset allocation for each of the unit trust fund.

ASG is a variable priced unit trust fund where investors are allowed to buy unlimited number of units in all the three funds. ASG is listed in the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Members’ Investment scheme.

The calculation of income distribution for all the three funds under ASG is based on the balance of units as at 31 March, 2010 which is the last day of the financial year for each of the funds.

The payment of income distribution for ASG-Pendidikan, ASG-Kesihatan and ASG-Persaraan will be automatically re-invested in the form of units and credited into the unit holders’ account based on the NAV of each unit trust on 31 March, 2010.

Transactions at all branches and agents nationwide for all three unit trust funds under ASG has been suspended beginning 24 March, 2010 to 31 March, 2010 to facilitate the calculation of income distribution.

ASG unit holders can update their ASG investment pass book at ASNB offices and agents nationwide beginning 1 April, 2010.
