PNB Chairman, YABhg Tun Dato’ Seri Ahmad Sarji bin Abdul Hamid in his speech said based on the Net Asset Value (NAV) of ASN 3 on November 21st, 2008 of RM0.9403, the yield derived from the income distribution of 7.00 sen per unit is 8.04 percent.

The income distribution will involve a total payment of RM7.90 million, an increase of 13.18 percent from the total payment of RM6.98 million last year.

As at November 21st, 2008, ASN 3 has recorded a gross income of RM7.07 million compared with the RM8.95 million recorded for the financial year ended November 30th, 2007.

According to Tun Ahmad Sarji, 2008 is a challenging year for the ASN 3 fund manager with the meltdown of the local bourse sparked by the global financial crisis. However, ASN 3 had performed better compared with the benchmark KLSE CI during the period under review. Its NAV had shown a milder drop of 18.30 percent compared with the 37.95 percent fall in the KLSE CI.

The income distribution of ASN 3 will be calculated based on the unit holdings on November 30th, 2008, which is the last day of the financial year of the fund. The income distribution paid will be re-invested into additional units of ASN 3, which will be automatically credited into the unit holders’ accounts, based on the Net Asset Value (NAV) on November 30th, 2008.

For those unit holders subscribing ASN 3 through the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Member’s Scheme, the income distribution will be credited directly into their respective EPF Accounts.
Up to November 21st, 2008, a total of 10,511 unit holders holds a combined 112.91 million units of ASN 3.

All transactions for ASN 3 at the ASNB offices and agents had been suspended from November 22nd, 2008 to November 30th, 2008 to facilitate the calculation of income distribution.

Unit holders will be able to update their accounts at ASNB head office; ASNB branch offices or ASNB agents beginning December 1st, 2008.
