
ASNB ANNOUNCED 5.50 SEN PER UNIT INCOME DISTRIBUTION FOR ASN 3

KUALA LUMPUR – Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) has announced an income distribution of 5.50 sen per unit for Amanah Saham Nasional 3 Imbang (ASN 3) for the financial year ended November 30, 2009.
PNB Chairman, YABhg Tun Ahmad Sarji bin Abdul Hamid in his speech said based on the Net Asset Value (NAV) of ASN 3 on November 19, 2009 of RM1.0729 per unit, the yield derived from the income distribution of 5.50 sen per unit is 5.40 percent. The price returns for ASN 3 for the same period is 16.44 percent. Therefore, based on the increase of NAV of ASN 3 from RM0.8742 per unit on November 30, 2008, to RM1.0729 per unit on November 19, 2009, the total returns recorded by ASN 3 is 22.73 percent.
The income distribution will involve a total payment of RM6.92 million.
As at November 19, 2009, ASN 3 has recorded a gross income of RM7.94 million, with an increase of 13.27 percent compared to the RM7.01 million recorded for the financial year ended November 30, 2008.
Of the amount, dividend income contributed RM2.17 million or 27.33 percent, profit from the sale of shares contributed RM3.91 million or 49.24 percent while RM1.86 million or 23.43 percent is derived from other income.
The income distribution of ASN 3 will be calculated based on the unit holdings on November 30, 2009, which is the last day of the financial year of the fund. The income distribution paid will be re-invested into additional units of ASN 3, which will be automatically credited into the unit holders’ accounts, based on the Net Asset Value (NAV) on November 30, 2009.
For those unit holders subscribing ASN 3 through the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Members’ Investment Scheme, the income distribution will be credited directly into their respective EPF Accounts.
Up to November 19, 2009, a total of 11,000 unit holders hold a combined 125.5 million units of ASN 3.
All transactions for ASN 3 at the ASNB offices and agents had been suspended from November 20, 2009 to November 30, 2009 to facilitate the calculation of income distribution.
Unit holders will be able to update their accounts at ASNB head office; ASNB branch offices or ASNB agents beginning December 1, 2009.
ASN 3 is a variable-priced balanced fund with the objective of generating capital growth over the medium to long-term period by investing in a balanced portfolio of investments through re-investment of distribution, if any. ASN 3 is opened to all Malaysians aged 18 years and above.
