
6.05 SEN PER UNIT FOR ASN INCOME DISTRIBUTION

KUALA LUMPUR – Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) has announced an income distribution of 6.05 sen per unit for Sekim Amanah Saham Nasional (ASN) for the financial year ended 31 December 2011.
This is an increase of 0.05 sen per unit compared with the income distribution of 6.00 sen per unit last year.
The income distribution will involve a total payment of RM92.8 million that will benefit 1.2 million unit holders who currently hold a total of 1.5 billion units of ASN.
PNB Chairman, Tun Ahmad Sarji bin Abdul Hamid in his speech said that ASN's performance throughout its financial year ending 31 December 2011 was generally better this year despite the challenging scenario of the stock market and global economy.
During the period of 31 December 2010 till 23 December 2011, the FBM KLCI Index registered a decrease of 1.5%, from 1,518.91 points recorded on 31 December 2010 to 1,496.15 points recorded on 23 December 2011.
Up to 23 December 2011, ASN has recorded a gross income of RM114.67 million. From the amount, profit from the sale of shares contributed RM58.71million or 51.2%, followed by dividend income from investment in companies which contributed RM43.33 million or 37.8% while the balance of RM12.63 million or 11% derived from other instruments.
The income distribution of ASN is calculated based on the units held on 31 December 2011, which is the last day of the ASN financial year end.
The income distribution payment will be re-invested into additional units of ASN and will be automatically credited into the unit holders' accounts based on the net asset value of ASN as at 31 December 2011.
All transactions for ASN at the ASNB headquarters, ASNB offices and agents have been suspended beginning 27 December 2011 until 2 January 2012 to facilitate the calculation of income distribution.
Unit holders will be able to update their ASN accounts beginning 3 January 2012 at any ASNB offices or ASNB agents nationwide.
ASN is a variable priced growth fund launched on 20 April 1981. The objective of this fund is to generate reasonable level of income distribution and capital appreciation to the unit holders through a diversified portfolio of investments.
ASN's performance in terms of its total returns and yield can be compared to other instruments with similar features and risk levels.
