7.00 SEN INCOME DISTRIBUTION FOR ASW2020

KUALA LUMPUR - Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB), a wholly owned subsidiary of PNB, today announced an income distibution of 7.00 sen per unit for Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020 (ASW 2020) for the financial year ended 31 August, 2008.

PNB Chairman, Tun Dato’ Seri Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid said, the income distribution will involve a total payment of RM498.52 million, an increase of 42.02% compared to RM351.02 million last year.

“It will benefit 789,472 unit holders which currently hold  7.76 billion units of ASW 2020,” he said during a press conference here, today.

Up until 20 August, 2008, ASW 2020 has recorded a gross income of RM584.19 million, an increase of 9.78% from the RM532.14 million recorded in the previous corresponding period.

Profit from the sale of shares contributed RM223.66 million or 38.29%; dividend income from investee companies contributed RM247.95  million or 42.44%, and RM112.58 million or 19.27% is derived from interest and other income.

The calculation of income distribution this year will be based on the average monthly minimum balance held throughout the financial year beginning 1 September, 2007, until 31 August, 2008.

The income distribution will be reinvested in the form  of new units and will be credited to the unit holders’ accounts automatically. Unit holders will be able to update their accounts at ASNB head office; ASNB branch offices or ASNB agents beginning 2 September, 2008.

Investors who participated in ASW 2020 through the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Investment Scheme will have their income distribution credited directly into their respective EPF accounts.

Unit holders of ASW2020 will receive their income distribution statement together with the annual report beginning end October, 2008.

ASW 2020 is an all-Malaysian fixed price equity fund in which 51% of its’ size is open for Bumiputera investors while 49% is open for non-Bumiputera investors aged 6 months and above.It is also listed in the Employees Provident Fund investment withdrawal scheme.
