Higher Income Distribution for ASW 2020

KUALA LUMPUR:- Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB), a wholly owned subsidiary of PNB, today announced an income distribution of 8.00 sen per unit for Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020 (ASW 2020) for the financial year ended 31 August, 2007.

That 8.00 sen per unit income distribution also included a special gift of 1.00 sen per unit for unit holders in conjuction with 50th Merdeka celebration of our country this year.  

In 2006, the income distribution for ASW 2020 was announced at 6.80 sen per unit.

PNB’s Chairman, Tan Sri Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid said, the income distribution will involve a total payment of RM344.1 milion, an increase of 71.09% compared to RM201.12 milion last year.

“It will benefit 715,526 unit holders which currently hold 5.36 bilion unit of ASW 2020,” he said during the press conference here, today.

Up until 24 August, 2007, ASW 2020 has recorded a gross income of RM530.23  milion, an increase of 117.62 percent from the RM243.65 million recorded in the previous corresponding period.

Profit from the sale of shares contributed RM292.75 million or 55.21 percent, dividend income from investee companies contributed RM181.02 million or 34.14 percent, and RM56.46 million or 10.65 percent is derived from investments in short term instrument.

Tan Sri Ahmad Sarji said, the calculations of income distribution this year will be based on lowest average monthly balance for the period of investment from 1 September, 2006 until 31 August, 2007.

The income distribution will be reinvested in the form of new units and will be credited to the unit holders’ accounts automatically. Unit holders will be able to update their accounts at ASNB head office; ASNB branch offices or ASNB agents beginning 3 September,  2007.
For the purpose of calculating the income distribution, all transactions involving ASW 2020 will be suspended starting from 27 August, 2007 until 2 September 2007.

ASW 2020 is a fixed price equity fund in which 51% of it size is open for Bumiputera investor while 49% is open for non-Bumiputera investor.  It is opened to all Malaysia aged 6 months and above.
