What is Amanah Dana Anak Malaysia 2050 (ADAM50)?

ADAM50 is a new program introduced by the Government in collaboration with Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) to all Malaysian newborn babies from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2022.

The main objective of ADAM50 is to encourage savings and investment of Malaysians from the early age, by distributing free incentive units as initial investment capital.

The free incentive units given will be credited into Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) account for Bumiputera babies or Amanah Saham 1Malaysia (AS 1Malaysia) for non-Bumiputera babies after registration process being done at Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB*) branches and Agents’ branches.

*ASNB is a wholly owned subsidiary of PNB that is responsible in managing ASB and AS 1Malaysia.

What is the special features of this program?

Parents, guardians or third parties can make additional subscription to the participants’ account until reaching maximum individual limit set by ASNB, as the following:

  • Current maximum individual limit of Akaun Remaja of ASB; OR
  • A maximum of 50,000 units for AS 1Malaysia

The maximum individual limit for ASB and AS 1Malaysia with regards to ADAM50 is inclusive of 200 incentive units given.

What is the amount of incentive unit given?
200 units are allocated for every Malaysian newborn babies from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2022.
Does the free units given can be redeemed at any time?
Incentive units of 200 and any income distribution as well as additional distribution (if any) arise from this incentive unit can only be redeemed after the child reaches the age of 18 years old.
Does the registration of ADAM50 can be done at any time?
Registration shall be made within a maximum of one year after the date of birth of the newborn. For instance, should a baby is born on January 2, 2018, parent or registered guardian must perform registration process latest by January 2, 2019. Should the parent or registration guardian missed the deadline, the entitlement of the free incentive units will be forfeited.
Who is eligible to perform the registration of ADAM50?

The eligibility of ADAM50 are as follows:

  1. Malaysian
    1. Bumiputera – ASB
    2. Non-Bumiputera – AS 1Malaysia
  2. Parent or registered guardian must attained the age 18 years and above during the registration process

Should the registration is made by any other individual besides the parent of the baby, supporting documents such as Court Orders shall be presented during the registration.

Does the participants of ADAM50 are able to cancel the account after the registration being made?
No. Unless the general eligibility of investment in ASNB Funds are not being fulfilled, such as the surrender of citizenship.
What is the start date of ADAM50?
January 1, 2018.
Will there be any quota allocation based on races for ADAM50?
No. The units allocated in AS 1Malaysia for the purpose of ADAM50 is open to all Malaysian non-Bumiputera babies, regardless of ethnicity.
How long is the period of ADAM50?

ADAM50 participant's account will become mature after reaching the age of 18. Then, the status of the account will be changed to Normal Account and all incentive units and income distribution (if any) can be transacted normally.

The maximum limit of the individual participants will be treated based on the existing treatment of ASB and AS 1Malaysia, whereby for Bumiputera, the limit will follow the existing maximum individual limit of Akaun Dewasa ASB, while for non Bumiputera, there will be no individual limit imposed, however subject to the availability of AS 1Malaysia at that point of time.

Should I opted to not participate in ADAM50 initially, do I have the option to re-participate?

Parents still have the option to reparticipate in ADAM50 if the conditions below are fulfilled:

  1. Registration is made within 1 year from the date of birth of the baby, AND
  2. The baby still does not have the account in ASB (Bumiputera) or AS 1Malaysia (non Bumiputera); OR
  3. Should the baby have opened the account in ASB or AS 1Malaysia, there is no investment/holdings in the account (inclusive of initial investment).

If any of the conditions is violated, the eligibility of participation in ADAM50 will be forfeited.
