A guide for beneficiaries on the procedures to withdraw the remaining ASNB unit trust investments when a unit holder passes away.

What is an Estate Claim?


The process of transferring the ASNB investments of a deceased unit holder to the rightful beneficiaries.
 

Registered Nominee / Trust Instruction exists

The process is typically simpler, and benefits will be distributed to the nominee(s) according to the records and relevant terms.

No Nominee / No trust documents

Claims require valid legal authorization documents (e.g., Grant of Probate, Letters of Administration, Small Estate Distribution Order, or Syariah Court Order/Faraid Certificate for Muslim cases).

Estate Claims

  • Moveable assets not exceeding RM600,000 - Letter of Instruction/Statutory Declaration from Amanah Raya Berhad.

  • Movable and immovable assets not exceeding RM5 million – Small Estate Distribution Order/Letters of Administration from the Department of Director General of Lands and Mines (JKPTG).

  • Movable and immovable assets more than RM5 million - Letters of Administration/Grant of Probate/Order from the Civil High Court

  • Assets under Hibah - Shariah High Court

  • Letters of Administration from the Sabah Native Court/Sarawak District Office

  • Estate Distribution Order/Order from Syariah Subordinate/High Court Sabah/Sarawak

  • Letters of Administration/Grant of Probate from the Civil High Court

  • All estate claims must be submitted via ASNB branches for verification of deceased and beneficiary information.

  • Total accumulated investment of RM10,000 and below without Letter of Administration will be processed at ASNB branches.

  • Total accumulated investment of more than RM10,000 will be processed at ASNB Headquarter.

  • Husband or wife or

  • Mother or father or

  • Biological child or

  • Siblings or

  • Grandfather or grandmother or

  • The executor / administrator as stated in the Grant of Probate/Letters of Administration/Order

Application Procedures and Documents Required

Total accumulated investment of RM10,000 and below

  • Investment Unit Claim Form (T1 Form)

  • Photocopy of Death Certificate

  • Photocopy of Identity Card of the administrator/beneficiary/recipient

  • Investment book or certificate of the deceased (if any)

  • Any one of the following documents:

    1. Marriage Certificate or Extract of Marriage Certificate

    2. Birth Certificate

    3. Pension Card

    4. Faraid Certificate

    5. Any official document proving relationship from:

      • Department of Orang Asli Development

      • National Registration Department

      • Islamic Affairs Office

      • Sabah Native Court/Sarawak District Office

 

Total Accumulated Investment Exceeding RM10,000

  • Investment Unit Claim Form (T1 Form)

  • Photocopy of Death Certificate

  • Photocopy of Identity Card of the administrator/beneficiary/recipient

  • Investment book or certificate of the deceased (if any)

  • Any one of the following documents:

    1. Letters of Administration/Grant of Probate from the Civil High Court

    2. Letter of Instruction/Statutory Declaration from Amanah Raya Berhad

    3. Small Estate Distribution Order/Letters of Administration from the Department of Director General of Land and Mines (JKPTG)

    4. Letters of Administration from the Sabah Native Court/Sarawak District Office

    5. Estate Distribution Order/Order from Syariah Subordinate/High Court Sabah/Sarawak

    6. Order from the Shariah High Court declaring the deceased's assets as "Hibah"

    7. Order of the High Court of Malaya/Sabah/ Sarawak

    8. Order of the High Court of Malaya/Sabah/Sarawak under the Mental Health Act 2001

All photocopies of documents must be certified as true copies of the original by:

  • The ASNB officer/ASNB agent's officer/village head/head of the Human Resources Dept/Government officials from the management and professional group together with the official stamp, name, signature, date and designation

  • Letters of Administration/Grant of Probate/Order and List of Assets from the Civil High Court must be certified by the Registrar of the Court who issued the order

T1 Form Section C: Statutory Declaration

  • Please fill in the space provided by stating the difference in the information (if any) between the ASNB system and documents submitted

  • Needs to be signed together with official stamp by the Sessions Court Judge, Magistrate, Commissioner for Oaths or Notary Public

 

T1 Form Section D: Letter of Guarantee and Indemnity

  • Please fill in the personal information column of the administrator/beneficiary/recipient making the claim. This information must be the same as the information on T1 Form: Section B1 and Section C.

  • The administrator/beneficiary/recipient has to sign and thumbprint it with his left-hand thumb stamp in on the required field

  • Please attach a Stamp Certificate worth RM10.

    1. This Stamp Certificate can be executed online at https://stamps.hasil.gov.my/stamps/ or at any ASNB Branch.

    2. In case of online purchase, the information in the Stamp Certificate should be completed as follows:

Application can be made at ASNB Main Counter Kuala Lumpur and ASNB branches only

  1. The administrator/beneficiary/recipient can visit any ASNB branch for more information on estate claims

  2. The administrator/beneficiary/recipient must fill in and complete the Investment Unit Claim Form (T1 Form)

    1. Section A - Needs to fill in with details of the deceased

    2. Section B1 - The administrator/beneficiary/recipient needs to fill in his details (if the application has more than one administrator/beneficiary/recipient please fill in Section B2)

    3. Section C - Statutory Declaration (Filled by the same administrator/beneficiary/recipient in Section B1)

      • Complete the space provided should there be any difference in the information between the documents and ASNB systems

      • The "Di hadapan Saya" column must be signed together with official stamp by the Sessions Court Judge, Magistrate, Commissioner for Oaths or Notary Public.

    4. Section D - Letter of Guarantee and Indemnity (Filled by the same administrator/beneficiary/recipient in Section B1 & Section C)

      • Please fill in the personal information of the administrator/beneficiary/recipient making the claim

      • The administrator/beneficiary/recipient has to sign and thumbprint it with his left-hand thumb on the required field

      • Please attach a Stamp Certificate worth RM10

  3. If the deceased still have a collateral or loan unit, the beneficiary must attend the branch of the Bank Agent/Lending Institution (IPP) involved. Before that, the beneficiary needs to get the relevant loan/collateral information at the ASNB branch through the Loan Certificate Claim Form (BTS) and take it to the branch of the Bank Agent/IPP involved for confirmation. This BTS form should be sent to ASNB together with Form T1.

  4. The completed form together with the original and photocopy documents need to be submitted to any ASNB branch

  5. The documents will be verified by the ASNB branch officer

  6. The beneficiary will be given an Acknowledgement of Receipt of Documents (BS5) as an evidence that the documents have been received.
